Sweet Boy

Theo had another visit to the vet, this time with another vet who was much better at thoroughly checking him out and explaining things. Theo had his blood pressure checked and will resume a smaller dose of the hyperthyroidism medication that he took when he stopped eating. He was none too pleased to be snatched up and driven to the vet but at the end the vet tech said he was such a sweet cat. He cuddled next to her when she was taking his blood pressure. Yup, that’s my boy.

They came from a litter of six and it would be interesting to meet the other four now to see if they are as great as these two. They almost have to be…

 

Nothing to See

They had been unusually quiet for much of the morning so I went to check on them. Just hangin’ on their cat tree.
 

Theo Update

Theo’s been up and down. Some days he eats most of his meals. Other days he mostly nibbles. He’s off all the medication he was started on a few weeks ago and has a return trip to the vet this Thursday to figure out the best way forward. He’s never been a lap cat but the past few days he has made it known he wants me to pick him up and cuddle with him for a while. I wish I could do more for him…

Dirty Clothes

Norma continues to enjoy sleeping in my clothes hamper. I wish I could teach her to throw the dirty clothes in the washing machine, dry them and then fold them. Alas, I don’t think she’s interested in all that.
 

Comfort

Theo and Norma have spent some time together the past two days. This is highly unusual. I think she knows he’s feeling under the weather and wants some company.
 

His Safe Place

Sometimes Alias likes an obstructed view of life.
 

Theo

Theo began taking medicine for his hyperthyroidism on Monday. He didn’t eat for the next four days. Friday, I called the vet and got an appetite stimulation drug prescribed. The medication is applied by rubbing it on the ear. It must have smelled interesting because Alias and Norma tried hanging around their tired brother. 

Theo did try to eat a little bit that evening but he threw everything he ate up. Saturday morning his full appetite returned so I haven’t had to apply the new medication since that first time. I stopped with the thyroid medication on Wednesday but the vet suggested Friday I try giving Theo a lower dose. I haven’t resumed that yet because I want Theo to eat several meals first. Hopefully we’ll figure all this out and keep Theo feeling as well as possible.
