Mystery
We have a cat tree that I have placed a variety of balls on top made of different things. Every morning when I go downstairs to feed the boyz their breakfast, I notice the balls are all around the bottom of the tree, and the ones filled with catnip furthest away. I asked Theo if he knew how this was happening. He wasn’t going to confess anything...

Tightening the Belt
We owed a lot of taxes this year and with some major bills coming due, I told Diego-San we might have to cut back on treats and other luxuries. He was not pleased. I guess I do the sacrificing around here...

Derelict Bunny
Theo noticed the Easter Bunny seemed to miss our house. There were no hidden treats to be found anywhere (and believe me he looked).

He Too
After watching Diego-San get a combing session nearly every night since the beginning of time, Theo has now decided he wants one too. Problem is he doesn’t like to lie still, and he really doesn’t like to be held down. He seems to like the feeling of the comb going through his furs but the sessions don’t last very long. Still, he has come to interrupt Diego-san’s sessions more and more.

Dignity
Diego-San had a matted fur on his chest so I tried to work my way through it and ended up pulling out a large clump of fur. When I looked at him later I noticed he has a bald spot on his chest (not shown here). My poor buddy... a pimple on his chin and a bald chest.

Peabody Ducks
I’m staying at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. Every day at noon a group (flock? Gaggle?) of ducks marches down from the roof, onto the elevator across the lobby into the lobby’s pond. It made me think I should have brought the boyz with me. They would have had a grand time chasing the ducks.

Memphis
Off to Memphis for a meeting. Diego-San made sure he spent plenty of time rubbing his scent onto my suitcase so if I am to run into any cats on my trip, they will know I belong to him.

The Suitcase
The suitcase came out... Diego-San knows what this means. Theo, who is far more about keeping a routine, still hasn’t put two and two together.

Minnesota Springtime
The forecast calls for eight inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday. It got up to 70 degrees today and I rode my scooter to work. I asked Diego-San to remind me why we live in this part of the country. He was completely indifferent.

Boyz Time
I had a ticket to yesterday afternoon Timberwolves basketball game. I decided to sell it so I could spend the day with the boyz because I’m not going to be around much this week. Theo foiled my plans by spending most of the day by himself in the upstairs bedroom. Diego-San and I did some serious napping in the afternoon. Theo joined us during the evening... Wolves lost. I did not.

Big Day
The boyz had a big day yesterday. I brought both of them to the vet. Theo was mainly for his annual physical but also for his sneezing which has gotten better. Diego-San has had a wound on his chin for over a month that is painful to the touch.
Theo checked out fine. He’s maintained his weight over the past year. The vet recommended he get his teeth cleaned.
Diego-san’s wound is an infected pimple. He was sent home with a liquid antibiotic and a kitty version of Clearasil. He is a teenager in human years so I guess that makes sense?
The boyz bonded over their shared adventure when they got back home.

False Comfort
The suitcase is going to make an appearance in the near future. Given Diego-san’s position of comfort, I don’t think he has picked up on any of the clues...

Our Hunter
I brought a new bag of cat food home and put it on a chair in my office instead of its final destination, a broom closet. A friend came over in the evening so after she left Diego-San was in his ultra clingy mode, demanding a spot on my lap and freedom to rub his face against mine.
I heard Theo making some noise in another room but didn’t think much of it given his love of crawling in bags and boxes and knocking over vertical things to be in a horizontal position. But soon Diego-San scampered off to see what Theo was up to and when he didn’t return and the noise suddenly turned to silence, I thought I better check out what was going on.
Theo had managed to knock the bag of food off the chair and ripped an impressive hole in the side. I didn’t know whether to scold him or praise him for his ingenuity. I chose to do both...

Gone Less But More Gone
My new job has me working much closer to home which means I leave home later in the morning and get home earlier in the afternoon. There’s also far fewer evening meetings. But the job will require more out of state trips. Diego-San isn’t sure he approves of this change...

Litter Box Agreement
The boyz have two litter boxes, down from three when Thompson was around. I did buy an extra large litter box when Thompson was having difficulty staying in the box so that is one of the two. Apparently Diego-san and Theo have reached some sort of agreement that one box (the smaller one) is for #1 and the larger box is for #2. If they had included me in the negotiations I would have suggested switching the two since the #1 clumps take up more room than the poos.
