Shaved Belly

Theo noticed his shaved belly is almost the same color as his toes. He thinks this might be because his tongue is red and when he licks his belly and toes some of the red comes off his tongue.

Not Amused

Diego-san has a lot of tools in his arsenal, but I don't think amusement is one of them.

Good News

The ultrasound didn't reveal any tumors or blockages in Theo's bladder. That's the good news. (I was worried sick these past three days.) Now I have to figure out why he's not using the litter box all the time and how I get him to do so again. Thanks for all the purrs and positive thoughts...

Black Friday

No he's not for sale, but he sure is special.

Theo Part Two

Theo had his ultrasound today. I dropped him off at the vet and he was there for four hours. When I picked him up he was calm and subdued. The vet tech said he was such a sweet cat. I concur...

He was happy to come home and was no worse for the wear other than having a shaved belly. We're supposed to get the results Friday.

Theo

About a week after Thompson passed away, I found a few urine soaked spots on the carpet in the bedroom where one of the litter boxes was located. I assumed they came from Thompson because the last few months of his life, he struggled to use the litter box.

I removed the sections of carpet and found the damage went all the way to the wood floor below. I cleaned things up as best I could. About a week later I noticed one of the boyz had peed on the spot where the carpet was removed. I wondered if this was a sign of grief or a sign of marking territory.

I moved the litter box down to the basement where the other litter boxes are located. Last week I noticed one of the boyz had peed outside the boxes. I began to worry it was something physical and wondered how I was going to determine if it was Theo or Diego-san that should be brought to the vet. The past couple of days I noticed Theo smelling like urine so this morning, I brought him into the vet.

They tested a urine sample and found some abnormal cells. So he is going to get an ultrasound to determine if he has bladder cancer. They prescribed some medication because his stomach was tender and hopefully it will help address the urination issue.

The news, of course, was really hard to hear and I'm hoping for the best. I just can’t fathom losing yet another boy who has been so significant to me. Theo has been the most idiosyncratic soul I’ve ever met. Losing him in all this will be devastating.

New Nap Routine

He used to take his naps with Thompson but now he's joining Diego-san and me while we are watching TV. It's nice to be spending more time with Theo but my heart breaks that he'll forever miss his brother.

Today's Star

Today Theo is in the spotlight. Time to shine lil buddy.

Love Strike

Diego-san is trying to inspire Theo into joining him on a love strike if the dreaded suitcase ever makes another appearance. Theo doesn't seem to be too inspired.

Vacay

I took a three day trip to see Bob Dylan in Richmond Kentucky. It's been a while since I took a trip somewhere partially because with Thompson's declining health over the past few years, I didn't want to ask someone to stay over long enough to ensure Thompson actually ate some food.

The boyz previous sitter is no longer available so I had to do some research on professional sitters in the area. I was worried about Diego-san and Theo and throwing them another big change when they are still trying to adapt to the loss of their brother. But it literally was just one day that I wouldn't see them, leaving early on Saturday and returning late Monday night.

When I got home they both didn't know whether they should punish me by staying away or actually let me know they were glad I was home. So they did a little bit of both.

World Wide Box Shortage?

Theo's worried if he leaves this box there may never be another box to sit in again.

Different Days

Some days just aren't rug or carpet days, but wood floor days instead. Of course when it comes time to urp something up, it's always a carpet day.

DST

I scolded the boys for not letting me know daylight savings time came to an end last night. I had worked late into the evening (stupid election) and my alarm clock went off at what I thought was 8:30 in the morning only to find out it was 7:30 in the morning. I lost an hour of sleep I desperately needed. The boys just wanted to be fed their breakfast at the normal time.

Favorite

This is Theo's favorite window. From it he can see the dog who lives next door looking out its favorite window back at Theo. Theo can also see me round the corner past the window when I come home from work.

My Pal

I love this guy. It's been a hard period of adjustment in our house with the loss of our heart and soul. Diego-san took it really hard, grieving and avoiding me in the weeks following. Now he's starting to be back to himself and even more so- wanting all my attention all the time. He's meant even more to me than ever during this time... One of the most unique souls I've had the pleasure to spend time with... Did I mention I love this guy?
