Phoenix 2011
Flew out to Arizona for the weekend to see the Twins lose two games to the Diamondbacks. It was a nice little trip (except for the results of the games). I was one of the first 15,000 fans Saturday so I got an All Star Game Garden Gnome. Woo hoo.
P.S. The boyz were mighty wound up when I got home. Theo threw up his first meal and Diego-san ran around like he had been shot out of a cannon...

A Secret
The boyz and I have a little secret to share. For the past month we've contemplated adding a fourth boy to the house. His name is Cody.
Cody was found near a dumpster in a trailer park. One of his front legs was broken and it later had to be amputated. Two people associated with the rescue organization sent me Cody's information knowing about my absolute fondness for my life with Thompson and the fact that Cody looks a little like Thompson. At first I didn't even think about possibly adopting Cody, but the thought of giving him a good home eventually started playing on my mind. My city has a three cat per house limit, and to add any more requires me to obtain the signature of any neighbor living within 150 feet of our house.
I finally had a chance to meet Cody last Friday. During my entire visit to his foster home, he hid underneath a bed. His foster mother said he's a very shy boy right now- he's only recently finally gotten comfortable enough to climb in bed with her at night. She wasn't sure adding him to a house with three other male cats would work very well. Currently his housemates are two female cats. When I first started thinking I might be interested in adopting him I thought about if it would be unfair to him since there is a pecking order in our house, a very set routine and it would definitely take an effort on everyone's part to accept him into that order and routine. I know it would happen eventually but I don't want to add unneeded stress to a life that already has had a difficult beginning.
I'm not sure what the final decision will be, but whatever I decide I really really hope Cody finds a great home...

Tale of Woe
On my way home from another depressing Twins' baseball loss, I decided I'd stop and pick up some dinner. There's a Vietnamese pho restaurant on my route home from the ball park and pho sounded good so that's where I decided to stop. Unfortunately when I pulled into the parking lot I saw a sign that says the restaurant is closed on Sundays.
So I headed home and was greeted rather indifferently by the boyz. That's when I said, "So guys you want to hear my tale of woe? There was no pho to go." I chuckled and Thompson looked at me with his, "this is what I have to put up with in this house" look.

Gotcha Day
Eight years ago, Thompson, Diego-san and I became housemates. It's been a wonderful journey and I'm glad we've gotten a chance to share much of it here on the blog.
Memories of our first meeting(s)? I remember being impressed how Diego nearly lept up into my arms the first time I saw him at his foster home... I also remember how surprised I was the first night they came to their new home how Thompson was the more courageous of the two- investigating all parts of the house while Diego immediately ran to the basement and hid for two days. I did wake up to find Diego peering at me from off to the side of the bed. As soon as I reached out to pet him he ran back to the basement. Another memory is the first time I tried playing with Thompson and I rolled a ball toward him. Unfortunately I rolled it on the side of his missing leg and as he bent over to try to catch the ball with his mouth he tipped over...
Oh the fun we've had...
Happy anniversary boyz...
