San Antonio 2011
I was scheduled to take a train trip out to Salt Lake City. Unfortunately there was an accident on that line last week and they shut down the route to make some repairs. So with some last second scrambling I ended up taking the train to San Antonio instead. San Antonio may not be the place you want to visit in late August. It was 110 degrees the day I arrived and cooled down to 107 degrees the day I had to time to do stuff. Visiting one of the old missions was interesting but I was very glad to see the three boyz's faces when I finally got home.

State Fair
This is a joke I tell every year at this time but it still cracks me up. Of course it helps to be a 'Seinfeld' fan to fully appreciate the joke but here goes:
Our house is within walking distance of the state fairgrounds. So the smell of horses in the air can only mean one of two things: 1) it's state fair time; or 2) Theo got into the beef-o-reeno again.

Me and My Shadow
Last week we featured the sweet sound of Thompson snoring. This week we thought we'd give him a chance to regale everyone with his version of the song, "Me and My Shadow." Go ahead Thompson... Thompson?

It's Music to My Ears
You have to turn your volume up all the way and it helps to listen through headphones, but this video captures the cute sound of Thompson snoring. Given the preceding instructions you may not believe it, but his snoring was so loud that Diego-san was looking at Thompson as if to wonder if his buddy was OK...

Bagger
One of my first jobs was bagging groceries. It still remains one my favorite jobs I've ever had because it was really satisfying when I'd come up with the perfectly arranged bag of groceries (cans on the bottom, cereal boxes on the side to provide a nice stable side, and eggs and bread on top) for a customer. I'm not sure I ever was able to create a bag this perfect though...

Life of Thompson
Thompson doesn't worry about things like how fast the summer has flown by or the smell of somebody's new shoes. Instead he just worries about finding a quiet place to rest his head.

Old
Played in our end of the season all day softball tournament. It's a double elimination tournament meaning the team plays until it loses two games. We lost our first game at 8 a.m. and had to keep playing the rest of the day as we won our next three before losing our last game at 4 p.m. My legs are going to be sore for the rest of the week.
The boyz were a bit anxious about the change to their schedule and to see the old man hobble home...

Peabody Ducks
While in Memphis we made sure to go and see the march of the ducks at the Peabody Hotel. During the anticipation for the march to begin I kept thinking I could probably teach the boyz to march down a red carpet and jump into a big sandbox. I'm not sure they'd be too keen on doing it every day in front of hundreds of people though.
