Scratcher Here or There
Diego-san thinks most of our house rules are for the birds but one he has agreed to abide by (for the most part) is that my furniture is not for sharpening his claws- the various scratching posts I've situated throughout the house will suffice. He does however, have the ability to shred a new scratching post to shreds in practically no time at all.

Litterbox Humor
One of the boyz's litterboxes has a cover on it. It happens to be the one that is the most popular with all three boyz. Often one of the boyz will have done his bidness at the front of the box and this makes it difficult for Thompson to correctly maneuver and use the covered box so once in a while his back end sticks out the opening and he ends up doing #2 outside of the box. This happened yesterday and when I discovered the accident I announced in my best loudspeaker voice, harking back to my days working at a grocery store, "cleanup on aisle 2!" I don't think Thompson was very amused by my little joke even though I tried explaining I was laughing with him, not at him.

My Morning Chore
I decided that before I scampered off to another day at the office, I needed to start addressing some rather large ice dams building up on our house's roof. For you non-arctic weather dwellers, ice dams form in the gutters of the roof where ice builds up and doesn't allow the melting snow to drain. This can cause some severe water damage to a home.
We have some impressive ice dams growing on our roof- but luckily no water damage thus far. One way to deal with ice dams is to shovel the snow off the roof. I have a roof rake which allows me to get quite a bit of snow standing on the ground without having to climb up on the icy roof. I decided another method would be to throw Diego-san up on the roof and have him use his massive tail to swish the snow off.
I discussed the plan with Diego but he didn't seem too keen on the idea. Theo joined our conversation and seemed to indicate a willingness to volunteer but quite frankly I don't think Theo has the tail to be all that effective. Moments later I was out in the frigid cold raking the snow off the house and onto my head.

Omission
The boyz are a tad upset with me... not only did I leave them all alone last week while I was off dog sitting my friend's dog Torii, but I also failed to mention this abandonment in any of last week's blog postings.
The boyz think that was a deliberate choice of not wanting to face any potential criticism for leaving them all alone... Still I enjoyed my week with the ever peppy, but quite lovable Torii. And the boyz did have a sitter stop by once a day to feed them (I even stopped by over the weekend to spend some time with them...)
