In Denver for a meeting. Went to the Rockies/Diamondbacks game. Nice ballpark...

The boyz newish sitter emailed me that they did well and that both are “very sweet.” That’s not news to me.

Disruption Noted?

The suitcase did not come out last night but the knapsack did. Diego-San didn’t seem to connect the difference even if the packing  activity was the same. Or maybe he was smart enough to note the size difference and realize I won’t be on a long trip...

Another Side of Theo

Return in about 5 minutes and he’ll flip over on his other side... He likes to call this move “over easy.” One more flip onto his belly and he will be “sunny side up.”

Plus Minus

Diego-San enjoyed an extra of me being home over Memorial Day weekend. I didn’t have the heart to tell him things are more than going to equal up very soon...

Theo(ry) Part 2

Theo’s theory came true. By contorting himself he was able to extend the weekend. I didn’t point out to him that it happened to be Memorial Day weekend. Now he’s trying a new theo(ry)... That if he sits around with his tongue out, the weekend will go on forever.

Aye

Our state legislature adjourned their special session and my office’s funding request was fully met. We also finally got access to $6.6 million in federal funds for cyber security. Diego-San will get all his meals too.

Snuggling Increase

He’s always been a world class snuggler but since Thompson’s death Diego-San has raised his snuggling game to a new level. He has increased his needed lap time and when snuggling he’s constantly trying to rub his face against my face as often as possible. This makes it difficult to write or watch TV or sleep, but living as long with Diego-San as I have, I know he’s not going to give up easily...

Theo(ry)

Theo is testing his Theo(ry) that the weekend will last longer if he welcomes it in by contorting his body. He’ll report on the results on Monday.

Good Behavior Part 2

Diego-San has sat quietly for 23 straight hours. He’ll accept a treat in bed but only if it comes with peace and quiet.

Politics

It’s the last night our state legislature can meet per our constitution. Minnesota has the only split government in the country with the Democrats controlling the House, the Republicans controlling the Senate, and we have a governor who is a Democrat.

They just agreed on the budget numbers late Sunday evening so they will have to go into a special session later this week to pass all the omnibus budget bills.

I stayed up late watching the floor debate because what does or does not get passed will impact my job. Diego-San just wished I would crawl under the sheets so he could take his normal place by my side...

Historic Moment

The surprising thing about this photo isn’t Theo sticking his tongue out at Diego-San. Rather it is the fact that Theo was on the couch first minding his own business and Diego-San was the one who joined him. I think that literally is the first time that has ever happened.

Summer Plans

I’m planning on going to many Twins games this season including four this weekend (they play a doubleheader today). I haven’t broken the news to the boyz who will have to get by without their favorite pillow.

28th Season

I had my first softball game of the season. I was glad I didn’t pull every muscle in my body and returned home uninjured. Diego-San wasn’t happy with my evening absence.

Step Forward

We’re still adjusting to life after Thompson. Theo continues to try and form the same kind of bond with Diego-san that he had with Thompson. So it was heartening to see Diego-san tolerate a prolonged cleaning session from Theo and then let him nap along side him. I hope this step forward continues...

Surprise

I got notified that fedex delivered a package to my house yesterday morning. Rather than risk having it sit all day on my steps that face a public sidewalk, I drove home for lunch. It’s the first time in 30 years, I have a job close enough to home to eat lunch at home. This was the first time I took advantage of that. The boyz were definitely discombobulated by my unexpected appearance. They didn’t even greet me at the door like they usually do.
