Day at the Beach

For Theo a day on the bathroom mat is the same as a day on a beach towel on a beach although he admits he’s never actually tried the latter.

Ok, I might be biased but yes they can be pretty darn cute…

New Brothers

It melts my heart that Alias is looking for a way to bond with Theo. He continues to seek Theo out when Theo is spending so much of his time alone. Theo seems to appreciate it too… often spending some aggressive grooming time.

Ho Hum

Weekend plans? Norma’s not too concerned she doesn’t have any.

Lil Monster

Not sure what caught their attention. All I saw was a small chipmunk who obviously looked more ferocious to them than it did to me…

Bunk Bed

Of all the cats who have lived in this house, Theo is the only one to ever take advantage of the bottom bunk of this wicker bunk bed I bought for Thompson and Diego-San. Theo also enjoys the top bunk. The boy has great resting place versatility.

Norma

Norma and I are still trying to figure each other out. There are times when I’m merely walking in her direction and she’ll turn and run away. Then there are times, like last evening, when she’ll take a long nap on my lap with her belly exposed which shows some serious trust. We’ll figure it out…

Her Turn

It looks as if Norma thinks someone is hogging the box.

Forgiving

Norma obviously doesn’t blame Theo for giving her the sneezes.

Energizer Siblings

As things are reopening, Norma and Alias are already having difficulty adjusting to my new schedule. I went to a couple of Twins games last week and didn’t get home until after 10 p.m. Last night I attended an event and didn’t get home until around 9 p.m. They must have slept the time I was away because all three nights for an hour after I got home they were going full speed 100 mph, racing up and down stairs, leaping on and off furniture and hurdling poor stationary Theo.

On the Mend

I think everyone’s on the mend. Alias was fine. Norma had one bad sneezing attack but other than that she seems fine. Even Theo resumed his box inspecting duties…

Sick Household

Many years ago when Theo joined Thompson and Diego-San, he tried hard to get his older brothers to accept him. Within a short few weeks after joining our house he began to have sneezing fits so I brought him into the vet. He was diagnosed with feline herpes, a respiratory virus. Sure enough Thompson soon got sick. He became very lethargic and sadly lost his voice (he was our talker). He would try and meow only no sound came out. Then Diego-San got sick. He too got lethargic and lost his appetite. Then Theo got sick again. And then Thompson got sick again. And then Diego-San got sick again. After round two (which took about a month), all three recovered. The same thing happened a few years later. Again, the virus went around twice and started with Theo having sneezing fits.

So when Theo began sneezing a couple of weeks ago, I was concerned about it being herpes again. Then Norma threw up consecutive days, the second she made a horrible shrieking noise as she was vomiting. And Saturday Alias began sneezing non stop. He sat most of the day with his mouth open. I was worried he was having trouble breathing and monitored him closely.

Alias and Norma comforted each other and took long naps together. Yesterday they seemed a little better.

They’re Very Close

For the first time (at least that I know about), Norma urped up a meal. Alias immediately tried to eat it up. If I hadn’t held him back, I’m sure he would have which in retrospect would have made cleaning it up easier. Norma is otherwise acting like herself so hopefully it isn’t anything other than an urped up meal.

The Great Unifier

These two don’t hang out together very often but I guess the sun can bring anyone together.

Tuesday Activity

This is how Theo spent a rainy Tuesday. Truth be told, it likely would have been how he would have spent a sunny Tuesday.

Norma enjoyed an extra limber nap over the three day weekend.

Fortunately for Alias and Norma, their first Fourth of July holiday was relatively quiet and firework free.

Pin Cushion Part Two

Theo had his second acupuncture appointment. Actually the appointment was supposed to be last week. I was at a meeting back in my real office and was delayed in getting home so I had minutes to round Theo up, put him in his carrier and bringing him to the clinic. We got there five minutes late… or so I thought. I had written down the wrong time so we were actually over an hour late and the appointment had been canceled. So we returned home, Theo voicing his displeasure the entire time. I rescheduled the appointment and this time we made it on time. Theo again was quite vocal until we got into the lobby where there was a very large dog who also was very vocal. Theo got quiet very quickly. He did OK during the treatment. When he was in his carrier with the needles stuck in him, he kept trying to nudge the door open with his nose. And similar to when I bonked him the other night, this caused him to sneeze.

I think the treatments have helped. He’s been much more like his old self including spending time in the evening in the bathroom with the door closed. He used to do that nearly every evening but hasn’t done it much the past several months. I hope it’s a sign he is feeling better.
