Clean Boy

I think Alias is the cleanest cat in the house. Both his sister and brother love to groom him and he’s very diligent in grooming himself.
 

Not a Fan

The Timberwolves, our professional basketball team, are doing surprisingly well in the playoffs. But they’ve had their moments of bad basketball. Norma gets alarmed when she hears me yelling at the TV. She isn’t used to me getting that riled up.

Tragic Morning

We had a tragic morning yesterday. Kenta evidently saw a flying bug that he was chasing all over the upstairs leaping on things like my desk and TV stand that he knows he shouldn’t be leaping on. I never did see the bug but Kenta was determined to catch it. Eventually running full speed he leapt up on Norma’s favorite perch and it came loose. I can’t fix it, it’s a stripped screw holding it in place. So Norma lost her favorite perch (Kenta enjoyed the perch too).
 

Fighting Moves

Norma and Kenta were wrestling yesterday. Kenta stood up on his hind legs and Norma pushed his chest with her two front paws causing Kenta to tumble over backwards. It was a brilliant move and hilarious too. I praised Norma for her savvy given that she’s half his size at this point.

Speaking His Mind

Alias has become quite the talker. Every morning after breakfast, I’ll be starting work upstairs and hear Alias bellow several minutes. The first time he did this I went downstairs to make sure nothing was wrong. But since he does it every day, I guess it just is him getting things off his chest.

Kenta is guarding the upstairs. I didn’t know what the password was but he let me by when I rubbed his head.
 

Upside Down Perspective

Norma loves to look at things in a different way then the rest of us.
 

Morning Routine

Alias and I have a new morning routine. When my alarm goes off, he hops up onto my bed and faces away from me. I pick him up and place him next to me as I rub his belly. I like our new routine.
 

Loving Life

When Kenta joined our household, up until the past couple of weeks, he snarfed down his meals faster than any cat who has lived here. (If meals were late, Theo used to gulp down his food and usually would urp it up a short time later…) Kenta eats as if he’s afraid the food will disappear before he’s finished… He eats so fast that the routine has been picking him up when his dish is empty and carrying him upstairs so he won’t try and eat Alias and Norma’s meals. We sit on the couch for a few minutes and then I let him go with the encouragement, “Go get them Kenta!!!”

But the last few weeks he not only has slowed down, but he now stops eating and rubs up against my legs. When I reach down to pet him, he plops over and I rub his belly as he purrs away. I think it’s his way of thanking me for regular meals. 

I’m trying to enjoy life as much as Kenta does.

Norma (and Alias) always keep a close watch on me. I make sure always to be on my best behavior.

A Satisfied Life

Kenta is enjoying that things are coming back to life outside. Squirrels, rabbits, people walking by. He loves looking out the living room window.
 

Purrs Update

One of the things I’ve noticed about Alias is that he rarely purrs. He loves belly rubs, dropping on his back, belly side up, bellowing for a rub. And when I do he rolls around in pleasure but he doesn’t purr. He also daily hops up on my lap and exposes his belly for a rub. Again, he clearly enjoys the belly rub but he doesn’t purr. Norma’s purrs are coaxed out and Kenta is our biggest purrerer. He purrs deeply when he has alone time on my lap.
 

Spring Might Be Here

Wasted sunny day as I had to spend all day indoors. At least my housemates got to enjoy plentiful sun puddles.
 

True Believer

I greeted my housemates yesterday morning with “Happy Easter!” And added “He is risen!” Kenta came sprinting over to me. I guess he is Christian.
 

Quirky

One of Norma’s many quirks is that often when I sniffle, she lets out a small peep. She’s done that since day one of our relationship. Yesterday my allergies were bad so I was doing frequent sniffling And true to form she let out a peep after everyone. It’s kinda amusing.
 

His Safe Place

Whenever I can’t find Alias, he’s usually resting in this soft house. Neither of his siblings are interested in it. You think I’d learn one of these days.
 

Alarmed

That’s a look of stunned disbelief on Kenta’s face. I don’t know what he saw.
 

Friendly Norma

Norma has been spending more time with me. She loves it when I get out of my work chair and when I return she races me to it and hops on so I can’t sit down. Then she rubs up against me.
 

Mysterious Curious Boy

Kenta has an independent streak I truly admire. He often naps downstairs in the living room when the rest of us are upstairs in my bedroom/office. Yet Kenta is perhaps my cuddliest housemate, loves to spend time on my lap, purrs the most. He’s a complex dude and I appreciate him a lot. 
 

Love the Routine

Norma loves to sleep underneath the sheets all night right next to me fully stretched out. I love when she does that because we don’t typically spend a lot of alone time together during the day. Diego-San used to start the night underneath the sheets next to me but he eventually always ended up outside the sheets nestled up to my right shoulder. I still miss that.
 

High Speed Chases

I don’t know if it’s because spring is in the air but all three of my housemates are having moments of unbridled energy chasing each other up and down hallways and stairs. I think Alias is the fastest. Kenta kinda wobbles when he runs. Norma holds her own.
 

Night and Day

Ten minutes earlier they were engaged in a pretty fierce wrestling match. Peace followed.
 

Hiding Spot

I hadn’t seen Kenta for a while so I did a search. I guess we were playing hide and go seek.
 

Respects His Sister

When these two snuggle it’s almost always Norma who initiates it. I think Kenta is a little afraid of his sister so he plays by her rules.
 

Bros

Not much planned for the weekend but I’m sure there will be plenty of brother time together.
 

Snuggle Buddies

Science has proven that snuggling is good for your health.
 

Smothering Love

I swear Kenta gets bigger every day. Someday Alias might not tolerate being smothered.
 

Exciting Day

Exciting day. There were three large crows and a squirrel in the backyard that caught my roommates attention. Norma kept making this squeaky peep. Note her ear position. She didn’t like the looks of the crows.

Alias loves to watch me work on my laptop. Unfortunately, sometimes he decides it would help if he strolled across my keyboard. Or howl at the top of his lungs when I’m on a Zoom call.

A Long Fall

Norma loves to defy gravity by leaping to the ledge on the other side of the stairway. I always get nervous about a botched leap but she has proven to know what she is doing time after time.

Kenta is subtly pointing out the carpet is in need of vacuuming (not that he is a supporter of the big loud sucky thing).

Together Through Live

Alias loves to sit belly up on my lap. Norma loves to sleep under the covers right by my side. As much as I enjoy those moments I think I equally enjoy how much they love to spend their time together, right next to each other. Melts my heart.

 

Successful Hunt

I was reading an article that suggested that when I leave my house, my housemates think I’m going hunting for food. No wonder why Kenta always happily greets me at the door when I get home.

 

She’s In Charge

Kenta thinks he’s supervising his sister. Hate to tell him, but one thing I’ve learned living with Norma the past four years, is she doesn’t take to supervision… at all.

I was having a really difficult day and I looked over to see Norma and Alias snuggling. I just had to smile.
