The Cost of Diego-san

Last fall, Diego-san developed a new hobby: ripping holes in most of my window screens. Well I finally got around to bringing a few of my screens to my neighborhood hardware store to get them repaired. Riley and Tiki left a suggestion on a previous posting alerting me to a pet proof screen so I had the hardware store install(?) that.

So far so good. I opened the windows a bit this evening and Diego-san sat up against the new screening but didn't try to rip holes in it.

Cost for the new screening for five screens? $133.16. Ouch.

It will be worth it if the screens turn out to be Diego-san-proof. I sincerely hope that this is the case. It's really nice to be able to have open windows again.

Uh, Diego-san, you should really take care the next time!

Ouch is right, but it is worth it to keep the boys safe. Mommy & Daddy are too cheap to have people install things so they installed them themselves. We're so glad our suggestion helped though. Riley has hung on the one on the screen door without damaging it, so they seem to be pretty strong.

Mommy is supposed to put a new kitchen faucet in this weekend. She may need Daddy's muscle to get the old one out. We will definitely help. We like helping. Even though our parents are cheap.

Mom had to replace all her blinds in our house in Florida because Grayson can't stand it when the blinds aren't open once it's daylight! He just sat there with his paw flipping them saying, "open, open, open" til they all broke. hehehe.

I can't say I've every had that problem. Although in most cases, I've always had indoor/outdoor cats so they'd go out when they wanted. Morgan one-eye was an outdoor only cat, she didn't like going inside despite being domestically born in a closet to one of my females. Phantom on the other hand was terrified of the great big wide world and was indoor only. I generally let the cat choose, as I don't like to feel like I'm keeping them in jail.

The thing with Toby and about 90% of the kids in the system is that you need warm bodies to fill up the farm teams so that the other 10% of the kids get a chance to develop. We are short, organizationally, on middle infielders and Toby does well at that position. There's a rumor he'll be back down when Brandon Roberts comes off the DL. That's fine with me. We need someone to spell Yancarlos Ortiz at short and (I'm sorry but) Dink is just NOT a short stop.

I told Gardy at FIL how much I enjoyed having Toby play for us and he just kept brushing me off until I finally got it through his thick skull that I was being sincere. But no, I think of Toby as more of a coaching candidate than a MLB candidate, and he needs to play the game to learn it so he can teach it to others.

Pixie used to sharpen her claws on our stereo speakers. My Mommie replaced the ruint speaker cover with something made out of a sort of shade-screen material. It looked just like a normal speaker, but better! We have new speakers now and they are No Fun to scratch.
