They’re Very Close

For the first time (at least that I know about), Norma urped up a meal. Alias immediately tried to eat it up. If I hadn’t held him back, I’m sure he would have which in retrospect would have made cleaning it up easier. Norma is otherwise acting like herself so hopefully it isn’t anything other than an urped up meal.

Pin Cushion Part Two

Theo had his second acupuncture appointment. Actually the appointment was supposed to be last week. I was at a meeting back in my real office and was delayed in getting home so I had minutes to round Theo up, put him in his carrier and bringing him to the clinic. We got there five minutes late… or so I thought. I had written down the wrong time so we were actually over an hour late and the appointment had been canceled. So we returned home, Theo voicing his displeasure the entire time. I rescheduled the appointment and this time we made it on time. Theo again was quite vocal until we got into the lobby where there was a very large dog who also was very vocal. Theo got quiet very quickly. He did OK during the treatment. When he was in his carrier with the needles stuck in him, he kept trying to nudge the door open with his nose. And similar to when I bonked him the other night, this caused him to sneeze. 

I think the treatments have helped. He’s been much more like his old self including spending time in the evening in the bathroom with the door closed. He used to do that nearly every evening but hasn’t done it much the past several months. I hope it’s a sign he is feeling better.

I was in a video on meeting and Alias found a new place to rest to my left just off camera. I thought he looked so cute that I almost shut my video meeting camera off so I could sneak a picture of Alias. Fortunately he stayed in the box until after the meeting was over…

Norma Jean’s Question

Norma is the first girl to grace our man cave. So when I talk to her and Alias about all the great boyz that came before, she has to wonder where the bleep are my role models!?
 

Pins and Needles

Theo had his acupuncture appointment yesterday afternoon. He voiced his displeasure quite loudly when I put him in the carrier. He was pretty vocal at the clinic. He didn’t seem to mind the needles but was not happy when he was placed back in the carrier to allow the treatment to take effect. It’s too early to say if it helped, especially since he has been much more social and like himself the past week. But when we got home he spent the entire evening on the couch with me. He hasn’t done that in forever. He has another appointment next week.
 

We Got the Hots

We continue to have a stretch of hot and humid weather. Alias didn’t seem too impressed when I told him how when I first moved into the house with Mr. Max, we didn’t have air conditioning. On sweltering days we relied on a fan. Max would sit behind it because he didn’t like the air blowing on him, which meant he probably was sitting in the hottest spot.
 

Meanie

One of Alias and Norma’s favorite spots is sitting in the big living room picture window. Yesterday I was outside with a hose watering the big ash tree. I turned the spray onto the window and they didn’t think that was at all funny. When I came back inside, I didn’t see them for an hour. I suspect they hid upstairs underneath the bed.
 

Needles and Neck Cracks

A chiropractic and acupuncture center for animals recently opened within walking distance of our house. In doing some research, some of Theo’s increasing ailments are what the alternative treatments are meant to address. Having great personal success with acupuncture and having gone to a chiropractor for many years, I decided I’ll see if it can help Theo too.

His appointment is next week. Theo’s actually had a pretty good week showing more energy and interest in things than he has for a long time. He even spent some time yesterday morning looking out the window, something he hasn’t done at all since Diego-San died. His appetite has been more Theo like as well. He even did the go crazy after using the liter box thing he used to do all the time. Hopefully the center will find effective treatment to help him feel better more often…

Hot and Humid

It’s been unusually warm here with our weather more like late July or early August. There also seems to more bugs flying into the windows. Norma and Alias haven’t given up hope of catching the bugs even though there is glass between them and their prey.

The Window Sill

The basement well window was one of Diego-san’s favorite spots to sit. Thompson and Theo had no ability to get up that high, so that might have been why it was one of Diego-san’s favorites spots. Norma and Alias have discovered they can jump up into the window sill. They both enjoyed a snack of cobwebs, something I never saw Diego-san partake in…

Strange Siblings

Norma still isn’t sure what to make of the strange guy who spends 90 percent of his time in the upstairs bedroom. Theo still isn’t sure what to make of the constant bundle of energy that seems to be living in a dimension with a whole other speed.
 

Silence

That’s a little turntable they are standing on. They probably figure if they stand on it, there will be no noise. So far they aren’t fans of music, especially loud music and really especially my guitar playing and vocal wailing. Norma literally flees the room when that happens.
 

You’re a Big Boy Now

Alias is getting so big… He probably weighs twice as much as Norma now. His muscles are still developing so he kinda still wobbles when he moves, but once he gets a little stronger he’s going to be a big boy (with the sweetest face).
 

My Lil Dare Devil

Norma’s favorite spot is the ledge next to the stairway. Diego-San loved to sit up there too, and I always tried to persuade him not to because at its highest it’s a good 10-12 foot drop to the bottom of the steps. Plenty high enough for an injury due to a mistimed leap up. 

Norma’s taken it to a whole other level… she loves to hop across to the ledge on the other side.

I hope they know how truly blessed they are to have one another…
 

The Look

Theo has taken to sitting next to me while I work during the day. He always has this look on his face. Either he can’t believe how much work I get done, or he can’t believe I’m wasting my life away, working on the computer and talking to people in Zoom meetings.

Norma is the first female cat that’s lived in the man cave. She’s also the first cat who refuses to let me clip her claws. I wonder if she wants me to put nail polish on them instead.

Big excitement yesterday afternoon... I let a huge fly in when I came back from my scooter ride. Norma’s eyes lit up and she bolted after it. She chased it to where Alias could catch it with his front paws. They tag teamed it... of course they were disappointed when I didn’t let them eat it.
