Thompson Update

Thompson survived his visit to a different vet last Friday (although he might tell you differently). He yowled all the way to the clinic. And yowled even louder when I removed his carrier from the car and carried him into the front lobby. He got the attention of everyone in the waiting area including a couple of dogs. The front desk staff smiled at the volume of his expression of what he thought about the whole thing.

The vet was informative and nice. She ordered a few tests including getting a urine sample.  I'm not sure how they did that. She also noticed his claws were very long (he doesn't like having them clipped). And in clipping one of his front claws, she noticed his paw pad was cut. So she sent home some medicine to help reduce the chance of infection. It's a liquid that I add to warm water and he has to soak his paw in it twice a day. I didn't think that would go over very well but so far he hasn't seemed to mind much.

The test results are not good. The vet confirmed Thompson has hyperthyroidism. :-( He's been taking meds for his thyroid for the past year and now the dose will be increased...

That's too bad that Thompson's hyperthyroidism has gotten worse. I hope the increase of meds help him.

Maybe he will start feeling better too.

Best to know what it is and it could have been worse. I hope he starts to feel better.

Do you have shards of glass on your floor?? :-)

We don't want to tell you how they got that urine sample. Let's just say it involves a needle. ;) But it's not painful at all.

We're sorry Thompson's hyperthyroidism has gotten worse. We hope the increase in medicine helps.
