A Win

My softball team played our first game of the year and we won. This is Thompson's reaction to the news...

Song and Dance Man

Theo often looks at me as if he expects me to do something, to entertain him somehow. I'm not opposed to an occasional song and dance now and then, and I'm constantly jabbering with the boyz but somehow Theo seems to think I should do something bigger, something much more dynamic. I'll have to work on that.

Mr. Piano Man

Diego-San loves to sit upon the piano. I'm not so sure it would be such a favored spot if I ever decided to actually play a song for him.

Best Bedding

I have pillows and blankets, cat beds, and other soft things placed strategically around the house for the boyz to sleep on. No matter what I make available however, Thompson's favorite place is often resting his head on one of his brothers (or me).

Crooked Feeling

Sometimes Thompson feels the world is a little askew...

A Twin

Diego-san had a burst of energy yesterday and was tearing around the house, in and out of rooms, up and down the stairs. Theo couldn't believe his eyes. He couldn't believe that someone else in this house could possibly have as much energy as he does.

Snuggle Spot

Thompson is no dummy. Both he and I love Diego-san's soft silky belly. I like rubbing Diego's belly, Thompson prefers burying his face in it.

Snow White Rewritten

If I was to try and re-write Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with new characters based on my life with the boyz, Diego-san would be Handsome, Thompson would be Soulful, and Theo would be Sweetness. I would be Grumpy.

Reality vs. Reality TV

Diego-san simply doesn't understand why I often think watching the TV is more interesting than watching what is going on outside our front window...

I stubbed my toe on my futon frame and was cursing up a storm using words the boyz don't often hear. Theo thought the whole incident was HI-LARE-EUS.

Our Kentucky Derby

Every morning, the boyz have their very own version of the Kentucky Derby. Only instead of the "Run for the Roses," the boyz race is called the "Run for Breakfast." I do my best to provide the play by play. My favorite race of all time was the morning Thompson hip checked Theo out of the way and for the only time, won the race. (Diego-san had been disqualified for leaving too early.)

April may have come in like a lamb and left even lambier, but the boyz slept through it all so they really didn't care.

This Moment

Diego-san seems fully recovered from the Great Anal Gland Incident of 2010. He seems extra appreciative of the time I isolated him and spent all my time with him. He even seems more appreciative of Thompson than he has been in the past. I think he sees that his life here, despite a few rules or two, and despite a pesky younger brother, is pretty darn good.

Brotherly Hug

Thompson has declared today, "Give Your Brother a Hug Day."

iPads

I've been enjoying my iPad. I'm reading more than I have in many years and it's great for surfing the internet, checking email, and watching videos. This is Thompson's version of an iPad: a soft place to rest.

Diego's Advice

My job's work is piling up as I have spent the last week on jury duty. The trial I'm on might last through next week as well so I can't imagine what the in box in my office will look like when I return to work. Diego has advised not to worry. He told me just roll over on another side and get another perspective...

Spring Fever

We definitely have a epidemic of spring fever affecting our house. Diego-san has been as squirrelly as Theo the past few days and Theo has been running around as if he is being chased by invisible creatures. Thompson spends all his time gazing out windows.

Factions

We had a first in our house yesterday or at least the first time I've been a witness to such an event...

Thompson and Theo were wrestling and like it usually does when those two are wrestling it soon turned into Thompson hissing and growling at the relentless Theo. The hissing and growling was getting louder and louder when Diego-san, who was sitting on my stomach, raced over to the scene and hissed at Theo. It actually kind of touched me that Diego would stick up for Thompson although I don't support the boyz taking sides against each other...

Welcome to the Jungle

I haven't had the time to mow our lawn yet and since the grass seems to be growing about a foot a day, I think Diego-san for one is starting to get concerned that the grass will soon be taller than our house...

Jury Duty

I was trying to explain to Theo that I've been called for jury duty this week. I'm not sure he got the concept since I'm not entirely sure he understands the concept of being guilty of something...

Doctor Sez

As we reported yesterday, Thompson and Diego-san got clean bills of health from their vet. I failed to mention however, that the vet wants Diego to quit smoking. Diego was not happy with this news because he thinks he looks rather suave when he's smoking (insert Photoshopped picture here).

Another AOK Year

Thompson and Diego-san had their annual visit to the vet. The kindly Dr. Timmerman said they both were doing good. Thompson has lost a half a pound over the past year and she said Diego-san was a good weight for his size. Thompson has a bit of gingivitis but Dr. Timmerman said that unlike Theo, neither boy needed to come back to have excess tartar removed from their teeth. Both boyz were pretty vocal in letting me know their displeasure over getting hauled off to be poked and prodded. Thompson in particular snarked at me the entire time...

The Contest

Diego-san wanted me to go back and tally how many of our first 1,500 posts were about him, how many were about Thompson, and how many were about Theo. I told him I wasn't going to do that but I would agree to make post 1,501 about him.

Milestone

This is our 1,500 post. That's quite a lot of blogging. The boyz and I want to thank all those who have read, followed, and left comments over the years. We've had a lot of fun.

My Lil Sprout

Theo was extra curious what I was cooking when he smelled me preparing some brussel sprouts. Given his interest I thought the name would make a perfect nickname for my lil buddy. I spent the rest of the evening calling Theo "Sprout." He didn't seem to know what to make of his new moniker.

Spring Has Sprung

After a long winter complete with a few traumatic events, there is nothing like the smell of fresh spring air to make everything seem OK again.

Weekly Staff Meeting

The boyz gathered for the weekly staff meeting. They are waiting for the staff to arrive before starting the meeting.

Begging to Differ

Thompson slightly disagrees with some of Diego-san's theories about being cool. He admits he has learned (and re-learned) a lot from living with Diego.

He may have to practice a time or two to do things the other boyz do without thinking, but once he gets something down, he is right up there with anyone. And being cool is something he has picked up from watching Diego's behavior.

The King of Cool

Diego-san has a couple theories about being cool:

1) You are born with cool. Cool is not something you can teach or learn.

2) If you have to practice being cool, you are not cool. Cool is just being cool.

Not Quite What He Was Expecting

Theo was watching me pretty intently yesterday morning as I was eagerly keeping an eye out the front window. When there was a knock at the door he followed me to see who it was. I think he was pretty surprised/disappointed that it was the UPS guy delivering my iPad and it wasn't the Easter Bunny delivering goodies a day early...

Baseball Returns to Minnesota

The Minnesota Twins moved indoors to the Metrodome in 1982. I was in high school then so the bulk of baseball games I've gone to have been indoor. Yesterday the Twins' played their first game (an exhibition game against St. Louis) at their brand spankin' new park, Target Field. The stadium is gorgeous and I loved the return to outdoor baseball. I feel a fun, fun summer comin' on...

Paid Time Off

Eating, watching things from your favorite window, and keeping an eye on your brothers can be a pretty tiring job. We're glad Thompson is up to the challenge.
