This used to be like an every other day occurrence, sitting on the kitchen table right as I am about ready to eat breakfast. He hasn’t done this for a while, I suspect it has to do with his diminishing jumping ability so I didn’t mind this otherwise annoying behavior.
I was at the Twins/White Sox game Tuesday night and during a key point in the game, score tied 3-3, Twins threatening in the fifth with two on and two out, when the game was stopped because a squirrel ran from the outfield through base runner Max Kepler’s legs and into the White Sox dugout. The Twins ended up scoring four runs in the inning and won the game 14-4. We have a rally squirrel.
Today’s our last day of peace for a while. Our State Fair starts tomorrow and runs through Labor Day. This means constant traffic both vehicular and foot will be streaming by our house. The boyz least favorite thing however is every night they end things with fireworks.
Diego-San had his annual visit to the vet. He lost a pound since his visit in April when I brought him in because he had an infected pimple on his jaw. The pimple is still there so they gave him a shot. He’s also had lifelong issues with his anal glands so those got expressed today as well. Sucks getting old.
MN Pets, the service that came out to my house to euthanize Thompson, and return his cremated remains to me, sent me a nice sympathy card hoping I’m doing alright during the one year anniversary of his death. While it was a nice gesture, I hadn’t even connected the dots to the anniversary. At least on a conscious level. A couple of weeks back I saw this 3D frame advertised on FB. I immediately ordered one and it arrived yesterday. It’s really pretty cool, a good way to remember my friend.
In Washington DC for a short business trip. I’m staying at the Eaton Hotel in a very nice room. My favorite part is the funky bathroom. This wouldn’t surprise the boyz because it’s the one room at home that they aren’t allowed to follow me into.
The boyz have tagged team hacking up hairballs the past three mornings to get me out of bed. Theo horked one up Friday. Diego-San hurled one up Saturday morning. Theo finished the weekend with another Sunday morning. I didn’t need my alarm clock all weekend long.
The weekend has arrived and we are now into August meaning the year is 3/4ths over. Time seems to be flying by. I told Theo there is a saying that “time flies when you’re having fun.” He wants to know when the fun will happen.
This is one of the few times in the past year that I have found Diego-San hanging out in the living room without me. Usually he’s upstairs on my bed or downstairs on the couch where I watch TV. I found him on the living room love seat when I set off for my last softball game of the year. I found him still resting there when I got home from my game.
