Good News
The boyz and I got some good news yesterday. The lump that was removed from my tongue was benign so nothing further needs to be done.

Together Through Life
I stayed home last Thursday and Friday to recover from the oral surgery I had on Wednesday. After four straight days of hardly leaving the house I think Theo got pretty used to having me around. Since I spent much of the time resting in bed, he got even more used to having a captive audience for all his boundless energy.

Thundering Feet
Thompson and I will often be relaxing on the living room couch when we hear the thunder of little paws upstairs. It's the sound of a high speed chase. I can never tell if the look on Thompson's face is one of sadness of not being nimble enough to keep up with the action or one of having seen and heard it all before and wondering when his brothers will just settle down like the rest of us.

Rushmore
A couple of weeks ago, Diego-san proudly showed off his "nickel pose." Not to be outdone, Thompson and Theo have a historic pose of their own- this is what they would look like as a part of Mount Rushmore.

Boyz and Toys
I always get a kick out of watching Thompson play with a toy. He's not playful by nature but when he does decide it's time to play, he gives it his all (just like everything else).

Coneheads
I had a lump removed from my tongue. The surgery only took about ten minutes but I must admit it's kind of hard eating with a sore tongue and it isn't pleasant having stitches in my tongue. Diego-san slept with me most of the afternoon and I appreciated his sympathy so much I told him I was considering wearing a cone around the house just to understand what he went through last month...

Anonymous Troublemaker
An unnamed boy (Diego-san) found an open half full bag of fresh litter sitting in the middle of our basement. I moved it there when I had to rearrange the litter boxes during Diego’s isolation time. This unnamed boy (Diego-san) knocked the open bag over, emptied all the litter on to the carpeted floor, and proceeded to use the fresh litter for number two. Somehow I think this act was one of defiance and not that any of the boyz are more defiant than the others (Diego-san), only one of the boyz (Diego-san) seemed at all interested when I went downstairs to clean up the mess.

Clean as a Whistle
Theo had his annual physical. He checked out A.O.K. with the exception of needing to have his teeth cleaned. He lost a little weight (less than half a pound) and now weighs right around 11 pounds.
He was not too happy with his adventure but wasn't too upset to enjoy the treats the vet offered to him.

Poor Guy
I posted too soon yesterday...
Diego-san was sitting on my lap and he began to constantly scratch one of his ears. Even when he wasn't scratching the ear was twitching. I tried to see if there was something inside that I could clean out but he was having none of that.
The scratching continued when we went to bed so I may have to bring him back for yet another vet visit...

Better
Diego-san is slowly returning to himself. He clearly was feeling better yesterday- the wounds are nearly healed and he was closer to his mischievous, big personality self. The cone came off and he enjoyed his returned freedom. He did urp up two meals and I'm hoping that was related to the end of having to take antibiotics making his stomach a bit unsettled.

Super Trooper
I have to thank Diego-san for being such a great trooper through his health ordeal. I'm thankful he doesn't seem to be blaming me for all that he has had to endure.
I was the one that brought him in after some initial discomfort for a procedure that eventually led to a lot more pain. I was the one that hauled him off in the middle of the night for more pain and brought him home all drugged up and then isolated him from the rest of the house.
I'm the one who has since dragged him off to more visits to the vet. I'm the one who is forcing him to take medicine and wear a cone when I'm not around. He's developed some type of respiratory affliction that has him all stuffed up and sneezing constantly and I suppose I could be blamed for that as well because he picked up the affliction at one of his visits to the vet.
Yet through it all, he still lies next to me in bed, as close as can be and purrs and purrs. He still wants to sit on my lap in the morning for some cuddling. I maybe associated with all his discomfort from the past week and yet he has managed to absolve me from any of the blame. And I appreciate that.

Thompson 2010
Thompson only ate a quarter of his food yesterday. I felt a little bit relieved when he charged down the stairs this morning in anticipation of breakfast. He ate most of his food but still left some in his dish- not at all normal for him. He hasn't shown any other sign of not feeling well so I've been wondering what's been going on. One theory is that he's conducting a hunger strike either in support of his wounded brother or because I've been paying far more attention to his wounded brother.
This morning's paper might have shed more light on the situation. Apparently my boy is considering a run for the U.S. Senate in our neighboring state. Who knew?
P.S. I came home for lunch to pick up Diego-san from the vet (another positive checkup) and Thompson went to his dish so I fed him. I think he's getting back to being completely normal...
