My Sweet Theo

Throughout his life, Theo’s sitting position often has him with his tongue hanging out. Sometimes it is replaced with a spit bubble. I don’t know if this is common among other cats but it is unique to all the cats I’ve lived with. I’ve never gotten a good picture of either the tongue or spit bubble because usually when I reach for my phone, he changes position. Until yesterday...
 

Historic Day

Yesterday was a big day in our household. Alias figured out he’s strong enough to make the jump up onto the kitchen counter. So there’s no more leaving dirty dishes in the sink nor glasses full of water on the counter. Diego-San had this ability his entire life, so it’s return to the way life used to be for so long...

Norma’s Flock

A couple of seasons ago our professional basketball team, the Timberwolves gave away Target’s mascot Bullseye dressed in the different team uniforms. Since I’m a season ticket holder I got quite the collection. When Thompson died I placed the many Bullseyes in his favorite cat tree top that he spent many a day napping. Theo and Diego-San rarely spent much time in that spot but I decided to keep it Thompson’s sacred spot.

When Alias and Norma moved into the house I did something similar with Diego-san’s favorite water dish. I put it aside but soon changed my mind and named it the Diego-San memorial water dish. Norma occasionally drinks from it. I decided the best way to honor Thompson too was to move the many Bullseyes from his resting spot and let the current cat contingent use it too. Norma has taken some naps already in it.

I moved the Bullseyes to the ledge of the steps . Norma’s new favorite thing to do is to swat them off of the ledge. At first I found it extremely annoying replacing them to their spot. Now I’m finding it somewhat amusing. Because I think she learned quickly it annoyed me but just can’t stop herself.

To All the Cats I’ve Loved Before

The figurine is of Mr. Max, my buddy who was my only roommate who lived in multiple locations with me. First in a tiny efficiency, then in a one bedroom apartment and for the first five years in our house. The painting is of Theo, Thompson, and Diego-San. And now Norma and Alias. Oh, and finally that’s former Twins’ third baseman Gary Gaetti.

There’s that saying about three being a crowd, but three is just fine by me.
 

Alias

Alias has an overbite so in resting position he doesn’t usually fully close his lips together. He likes to lay belly side up on my legs when I’m working. I like to pull the back of his neck to get this look. I posted it on Facebook and some took it as a look of fear. I like to take it as my boy smiling. Any way you take it, I would say it’s too damn cute.

Theo explained to Alias that he used to live with these two great man cats who taught him the ropes. He’s promised to do the same for his new brother.
 

Super Sunday

Ever since Alias and Norma joined us, Theo has spent the time after dinner alone napping in my clothes bag upstairs. That’s the time when I go downstairs to what I used to call the man cave (and now is the gender neutral cave) to watch some television. Norma and Alias have joined me.

Theo didn’t have a choice the first month because the three were being kept apart. When I was finished watching TV, I would feed everyone dinner and Norma and Alias would be locked downstairs while Theo and I slept upstairs. Ever since the house became integrated Theo has chosen to keep the routine the same. Napping upstairs until dinner/bedtime began. 

Last week I mentioned to him it would be nice if he would join us downstairs and that I didn’t like him spending so much time alone seeing he used to be such a social cat. The past two days he shocked me by coming downstairs during TV time and snuggling on my stomach with his siblings. 

I guess he does understand and listen to me.

 

Record Weather

It’s supposed to get bitterly cold the next few days. They’re saying there’s a good chance we are going to break our state’s record of consecutive hours with a windchill below zero: 154 hours. I have a feeling there will be a lot of snuggling this weekend,
 

Warmth of the Sun

He loves to sit in the sun but he loves the extra warmth even more because his landlord likes to turn the heat way down in order to save a few lousy bucks.
 

Baker’s Man

Norma wants to play Paddy Cake Paddy Cake with her brother. I highly doubt Theo is going to comply. If only he knew it could lead to some cake.

I’m not sure what “1B4” means but I suspect it’s some sort of secret cat code so I guess Alias and Norma are sending out a message to all of their cat friends on the internet.
