The boyz have one covered litter box that is split into two parts. The left side is a series of steps down into the right side where the litter resides. A couple of times last week I found one of the boyz had done #2 on the left side leaving his work on the steps out. The first time it happened I asked each boy which one of them was the "wrong side pooper?" None of them volunteered any info. The second time it happened I knew it was Thompson who used the litter box.
I'm hoping it's just a case of him thinking the litter in the box needed cleaning and not wanting to use that side. I also know litter box problems can often be about other health related issues so I'll be watching him even more closely than I have been. Poor guy, as if being branded a wrong side pooper wasn't bad enough...
Paws crossed that Thompson is okay!
ReplyDeleteWe purr Thompson is OK too.
ReplyDeleteOur Georgia has issues in that department and is given a stool softener daily.
It is a powder that is tasteless.

You may need to add an uncovered litterbox with easy access for Thompson. Aging and ill cats (and people) sometimes need to simplify.
ReplyDeleteYes, he might be having some issues accessing the box. I'd keep an eye on him and make any adjustments that might be needed. ~Island Cat Mom
