Another of Life's Mysteries
Theo doesn't understand why I would take the pile of dirty laundry out of this sun bath and stick it in a noisy machine that spits out suds.

An Unusual Day
The routine when I'm downstairs watching TV is Diego-san will come and sit on my chest as close to my face as possible. A little while later Theo will come down and sit on my stomach. If we are lucky Thompson will eventually join us too- usually sitting on one of my arms. Usually if I have to get up, I can just pat Diego-san on the side, and he'll get up. When he gets up Theo sometimes follows, other times I have to push Theo off of me. If Thompson is with us, I have to lower him down to the floor. If I return, the whole routine starts over.
Yesterday I got up and when I came back, I came back to this sight. This is highly unusual that both Diego-san and Theo stuck around waiting for me to return. It's even more unusual they stuck together in my absence. Maybe world peace is just around the corner.

No One Watching
Sometimes you gotta dance like there's no one watching. Other times you gotta lie on your favorite mat like there's no one watching.

D Update
Diego-san seems to be feeling better. He's eating more and he hasn't thrown up the past few days. Through whatever it was that was/is making him feel bad, he's remained his lovable self...

T Update
Thompson's thyroid level came back as high. Last time it was tested it was on the high end of normal. He's been taking a medication for his thyroid but the vet said the risk in treating the thyroid is it could hurt Thompson's kidneys. What is abnormal however is thyroid problems usually result in a bigger appetite and for the past couple of years it's been a struggle to get Thompson to eat. So I'm not sure what we will do...

Poor D
Diego-san still isn't feeling well. He's skipped a few meals and thrown up a few meals. A return trip to the vet is likely in the cards unless he shows improvement today...

No Secrets
Theo doesn't mind I'm posting this picture of what some might consider a private act. At least I don't think he minds (given he likely doesn't understand the scope of the Internet).

Paw'd
When he sits on my lap, occasionally Thompson likes to paw at my face. I don't know if he's checking to see if I'm still breathing or what...

Not Happy, Not at All
Yesterday morning Diego-san skipped his breakfast. This is a very unusual thing for him to do, so I called the vet and got an appointment for both he and Thompson (who was due to have his thyroid tested). The appointment was after work so when I got home I fed the boyz. This time Diego-san ate his entire meal.
Still, I decided it wouldn't hurt to have the vet take a look. So without much warning I loaded Diego-san into his carrier and Thompson too. It was really cold outside so I got to hear some cries of displeasure as we walked out to the car. Once in the car Thompson howled away, a combination growl and wail. Diego-san quietly meowed.
Thompson continued voicing his displeasure as we entered the building all the way through when they took him in back to withdraw blood. I could hear him howl even as Diego-san and I were directed to an examination room. I pointed out the recent scratch on Diego-san's back and the vet took his temperature saying it was a little warm but not that much out of the ordinary. She told me to keep an eye on him and bring him back in the morning if I was still concerned. He seems fine now.
She told me Thompson has small veins so they had some trouble withdrawing blood. Poor guy. He was pretty quiet on the drive back home...

Full Stretch
As part of his Olympic gymnastic routine, Thompson is showing his full stretch position. I'd give him a ten.

Quiz Time
Theo strolled by and noticed Diego-san occupying the perch of Theo's favorite cat tree. What do you think happened next?
a) Theo went away dejected and found somewhere else to be;
b) Theo joined Diego-san and they shared the space;
c) Theo leaped up onto Diego-san causing Diego-san to hiss and vacate the tree

Not Much of a Mystery
I noticed yesterday that Diego-san appeared to have a patch of grey furs on his back between his shoulders. Upon closer examination, I noticed it wasn't grey furs, but a bald spot with a cut underneath. I have a guess on which brother is responsible for the wound. Hint: it's not the one he's pictured with here.

Architectural Suggestion
Theo's thinking that if we made that entire wall behind him one big window, he'd have access to more than a sliver of light.

Different Strategies
Theo does everything he can (rubbing up against me, using me as a scratching post, head butting) to move up the next meal time. Diego-san has a different arsenal. He sulks.

Dad
My dad passed away yesterday. He was 92 and for the past three years had suffered from Alzheimer's/Dementia. Even as his memory suffered, even as his confusion grew, even up 'til the end, he always asked me how the boyz were doing. He knew they meant the world to me. So did my dad.
