Ba Boom

I warned Thompson that towards the middle of the week we'll likely be hearing unscheduled explosions and other loud noises- something to do with the birthday of the country.  I could see him accessing his memory banks to recall how fidgety past 4th of Julys have made his brothers and himself.  Hope my warning doesn't keep him up too late at night.

Payback

Diego-san got payback for having been dragged to the vet the other day.  His household chore/responsibility is to get rid of any bug that makes its way into the house.  I was awoken yesterday night by a spider biting me in the neck.  Diego-san was lying right next to me at the time although he did mosey on away when I leaped up and began yelping.  So far no signs of my having super spider like strength either.

15 Feet Straight in the Air

Yesterday morning as I was just about to head out to work, we lost the power in our house.  Thompson was sitting on my lap and he jumped about 15 feet straight in the air when the power cut out because the smoke detector beeped when it switched over to battery power.  Theo was investigating things by my feet and he jumped about 15 feet straight in the air as well.  Because Thompson and Theo jumped about 15 feet straight in the air, I jumped about 15 feet straight in the air too.  I'm not sure if Diego-san jumped about 15 feet straight in the air because I'm not sure where he was at the time...  Luckily when I got home from work, the power was restored and there was no more jumping about 15 feet straight in the air going on anywhere.

Not Amused

Diego-san had another visit to the vet to check on his anal glands (oh the  indignity).  He was quite vocal about being surprisingly stuffed in his carrier and loaded in the car.  He let me know his displeasure the entire short drive to the vet.  After he was done he was the exact opposite- not a peep on the drive home.  I couldn't resist saying, "What's the matter?  The cat got your tongue?"  I don't think he was in a laughing mood to enjoy my joke but I had to chuckle.

Performance Review

Thompson's household chore/responsibility is making sure that when one of the boyz needs to yak, that he shepherds them to a hard floor rather than a carpeted area.  With the warm humid weather we've had this month there has been more yakking than usual going on.  I let Thompson know he was slipping on the job and he seemed not to be too pleased with the job review.  Yak patrol is hard work.

Thanks D

Diego-san has decided the past few nights that he needs cuddling and attention.  Usually this is fine because he is a fine fellow to cuddle with, but unfortunately this cuddling request has come at two in the freaking morning.  He'll hop up into bed purring deeply and wandering across my chest trying to get his face as close to mine as possible.  I haven't exactly been responsive to the request and the response provided probably isn't as positive as he's hoping for.

Party!

Saturday is party day in our house.  This picture shows just how big party animals Theo and Thompson are.  It's amazing our house is still standing.

A Sad Story

Because his brothers often do their best to ignore him, Theo has been spending a lot of his time with his toy carrot.

Circle Back

It's been raining so much around here that I've begun considering building an ark.  Thompson has a different approach: curl up in a ball.  Come to think of it, that's probably a more effective strategy...

7th Inning Stretch Time

My decision to watch the end of the Twins game rather than go upstairs and feed the boyz dinner was obviously not a universally popular decision.

Loss of Symmetry

I've noticed that my ear that was operated on now sticks out further from my head than my other ear.  I usually do not suffer too much from vanity but I think the lack of symmetry makes my head look even sillier than normal.  I'm hoping this condition goes away with the swelling around the ear.  Theo has been a source of comfort, since he clearly thinks sticking out ears are not out of the ordinary.

A Day In Our House

Thompson's been watching one brother tearing around the house like his tail is on fire and his other brother hogging all my attention (and lap space). Meanwhile he's found a peaceful, quiet place to rest.  In other words, it's just another day like any other.

To Do

We're having a quiet, nothing to do Saturday.  That's OK by Diego-san (and myself).

Theo's Wisdom

The best place to rest your head on a Friday is on top of your favorite toy carrot.

Unfair Medical Practices

Diego-san pointed out that when he came back from the vet with infected anal glands he had to wear a cone for a while.  He's wondering why I haven't been wearing a cone around the house this week.

Post Op

The story I was told about Thompson is that after his amputation surgery the first thing he did when he awoke was demand to be fed.  Then he ate  as if he wanted to make up for all the meals he might have missed.  I have to admire that because days after my surgery I'm still trying to force myself to eat having no appetite whatsoever.  I know though that it will help speed up the healing process if I continue to eat some meals...

Recovering

Over a year ago I developed a terrible ringing in my left ear.  Last summer I got some cortisone shots to the eardrum in an attempt to alleviate the ringing.  The hole from those shots never healed so last week I had surgery to repair the perforated eardrum.

I've been doing a lot of sleeping since coming home.  The boyz's routine has become a lot different but the thing that has most concerned them is that instead of taking a shower upstairs like I've done every day for the past seven or eight years, I've been taking a bath downstairs so I don't get the dressing on my head wet.  The boyz don't quite know what to make of this change....

Hiatus

For the first time in six years, the boyz and I have to take a small break from their blog.  I'm having some minor surgery and I'll get to see if the boyz's nursing abilities are up to snuff.  Hopefully we'll be up and running again next week and our regularly scheduled programming will resume.

Eclipse

This is Diego-san's impersonation of a solar eclipse.  Be sure to wear your special glasses to view him.

Mr. Rabbit

Last week I noticed two young rabbits had taken up residence in my backyard. The two rabbits chased each other around in a playful way, and if I had to describe their activity I would have to say they were "romping."  Friday evening when I got home I saw the two rabbits sitting watching me walk the path to my house but I also noticed the black cat who roams the neighborhood observing the rabbits from my neighbor's yard.

I thought about chasing the cat away but didn't end up doing that.  Sure enough, Saturday morning when I went out to my garage I looked over at my neighbor's yard and saw a dead bunny right about where the cat was sitting the night before.  I felt sad I hadn't done anything not that that could have guaranteed the rabbit's safety and not that I even know the cat was guilty of the killing.

In honor of the dead rabbit I put away the boyz's stuffed rabbit for the weekend. The boyz probably think I am a traitor to the cause.

Calendar Boyz

Thompson and Theo can't believe it's only Monday.  They think it feels more like Thursday.

Calendar Boy

Thompson can't believe it's June already.  It still feels a little like May to him.

Distinctive Looks

Diego-san's plan for Saturday: give me a look like he expects me to entertain him; give me another look when my attempts to entertain him do not amuse him.

(Semi) True Non-Relaxation

The only way to look like the last thing you want to do is relax is to bare your fangs.
