Since Diego-san appears to be smarter than your average cat (and bear for that matter) I've decided I'm going to see if he can learn how to "sit" and "shake hands" upon request. I may have to get a bag of these Temptations that seem to be all the rage for bribery/treats. I'm betting he can learn, it's a matter of his pride about doing tricks on command.
Cat don't do tricks. Making you humans think we are doing tricks IS the trick!
ReplyDeleteYes, get many, many, many bags of Temptations!
ReplyDeleteYou should probably buy a case of Temptations! I'm sure he would then pretend to do tricks for you : )
ReplyDeleteYou'll need LOTS of Temptations. And many flavors. Really!
ReplyDeleteMom says to start by identifying sumfing he already does, like lift a paw to tap you. When he does that, say the command and give him the treat. If he's smart, he'll start to associate the word with the action. I spin, give paw, and (sort of) hi-five. "Sit" is hard.
If he's really smart, he'll look confused and pathetic and you'll give him treats anyway for trying.
PS we haf You Tube links at the bottom of our blog to movies where I spin for treats.
