I put this box out a few months ago. It’s become Theo’s favorite place to sleep at night and he spends the majority of the day inside as well. Glad he’s so easily pleased...

Work

So here’s the new work routine. My home office is setup in my kitchen/dining room area with my laptop on my table. I’m setup there because there’s a window available with plenty of sunlight. Diego-San has taken to sitting on one side of the laptop for a few minutes and then moving to the other side. He pretty much does this the entire time I’m working. He gets yelled at when he takes a short cut and tries to wander over the laptop. Let’s just say my work efficiency isn’t the best.

It only lasted a few minutes but this is by any measure, actual snuggling.

He remembers the days when he had a brother to snuggle with in the sun. He misses those days but he misses his brother even more...

Leaps and Bounds

I’ve been worried about Diego-san’s health the past couple of years. He’s lost so much weight and seems so frail. And he sleeps all the time. I don’t know if our new 24/7 schedule has rejuvenated him some. He rarely naps when I’m doing my work preferring instead to sit next to me. And I’ve learned he can still leap onto the stove, kitchen sink and kitchen table. All against house rules. Leaps Theo and Thompson were never capable of. It’s good to see Diego-San still have some of his youthful athleticism.

Big Weekend

Diego-san’s plan for the weekend? Keeping an eye on me.

The Thing

Theo thinks I’m spending way too much time in front of this thing. I tried explaining that thing is what ensures he gets all his meals, toys, and boxes to sleep in.

The Old Normal

Diego-San has never had an issue with social distancing himself from Theo. Theo has always had a problem staying in place.

Hey Siri? Why does Theo like to sit around with his tongue hanging out? “Hmmm I don’t know that one.”

Spring Disappeared

We got around five inches of snow yesterday. I didn’t leave the house. I did not practice social distancing from Diego-San.

Sprung

It was a bizarre day yesterday. There were alternating moments of sudden snow, and sunny clear skies. The is the most Apriley Minnesota spring yet.

Work Life Balance

I’ve never had a supervisor before who spends all day trying to sit in my lap.

World Gone Wrong

I told Theo it’s a brand new world out there. He’s looking for the differences.

Worlds Colliding

I finally understand the boyz point of view- it doesn’t matter what day it is when you are in the same place 24/7. What they don’t understand is I’m still on the work clock eight hours for five of those days. Diego-San let me know today that my lap must be available anytime I am home.

Existential Question

He wasn’t so much supervising my work as much as he was contemplating the existential question, ‘what is work?’ And why do I spend so much time doing it since it doesn’t look very fun.

Snuggle Avoidance

Diego-San had a hard day yesterday. He wanted to be with me all day long. Either trying to rub against my hands or face, jumping in my lap and trying to give me a big bear hug (he’s good at those), and bellowing whenever I was on the phone. I didn’t want to separate us with a closed door but I ended up doing that for key moments of the day. This all is a period of adjustment. Hopefully short term.
