We're Getting Old

One of the things the vet observed about Diego-san is that he is losing some of his muscle mass.  I have noticed that he is having more difficulty making leaps onto higher furniture. This is the boy that used to be able to get on top of the refrigerator and has always used his leaping ability to get away from a chasing Theo. It might be time to implement calisthenics into his daily routine.

Feed him more protein and get him on a strength training regime! My human says it works for her. Actually, it works for Binga too. She gets a "lunch" of high protein cat food because she's older and doesn't have as much muscle mass. And she's quite active and still gets into stuff, so she's doing okay in the exercise department. Mainly, my human is just trying to keep her weight up.

Yeah, I've been having some problems jumping lately too. Summer gives some good advice. The mom also gives me a glucosamine supplement to help with achy joints. ~Wally

I guess we all get to a point where we can't jump on top of the refrigerator anymore!
Diego-San's senior years, perhaps, are meant to be played out in spending time sleeping and relaxing. Exercise?! POOH!
