Dangling Conversation

One of the boards I volunteer on sponsored a community dinner last week.  I was fortunate enough to be seated next to one of the entertainers - a young chinese singer named Yanyan Guo. She performed a lovely Chinese folk song which she later explained to me was named something akin to "A Single Glass of Wine."

I tried my best to have a conversation with her and learn more about her life. Unfortunately, her English wasn't very good and my hearing issue (which is exacerbated in rooms with a lot of activity and conversation) made it difficult to hear what I might have been able to understand. So 90 percent of our conservation the other person probably didn't fully understand what the other person was saying.

As I went home that evening it hit me that really probably isn't all that unusual with any of my conversations these days including the ones I try to have with the boyz.

Sunday Mornings

Sunday mornings are reading time for me, nap time for Thompson, and lap time for Diego-san.  For Theo, it's time to feel sad about how boring the rest of us can be.

Making History

We celebrated an employee's birthday the other day at work.  I bought a cheese tray for the occasion.  Since it was sunny and beautiful outside I really wanted to ride my scooter to work (there haven't been enough days this year I've been able to do that) but I wasn't sure the tray would fit in my carrier.  I asked the boyz, "Do you think the cheese will fit in my scooter?"

That possibly is the first time that sentence has ever been uttered in the entire history of the planet.

Unidentified Odor

Theo is puzzled where that awful smelly feet odor is coming from.

Safe

Whenever Thompson sits in one of his favorite spots, I'm always tempted to roll it around like a big wheel.  If it were Theo, I'd probably do that but I just can't do that to Thompson for some reason.

Little Nicky

The Minnesota Twins used to have a player named Nick Punto. I always thought that would be a great name for a cat.  So, once in a while I call Theo "my little Nick Punto." He has let me know life is confusing enough without having to keep track of everything I call him.

He's Got a Water Tester

Thompson has developed an odd habit of trying to deny Diego-san any water. No matter where Diego-san goes to get a drink, whether it be the water bowls around the house, or the choice method of all three boyz- the bathroom faucet, Thompson immediately wants to drink out of the same source. Poor Diego-san actually lets him do it and usually goes finds water elsewhere.

Diego-san's Advice

It's always a good idea to show a little fang so no one feels completely comfortable around you.

Subtle Observer

It may not look like it, but he knows exactly everything going on in the house...

Don't Look

Diego-san hopes you don't notice the vomit spot in front of him. I was going to wash the blanket but he took the opportunity to rest on it before I got to it...

Two Loves

As a Mini Cooper owner I greatly appreciated this photo.

Busy Boy

His plan for the day: lots of napping and occasionally standing up and angling his body to take ultimate advantage of the sun.

Friday the 13th

To avoid any bad luck Theo decided to spend the afternoon in a box. He figured it was the safest thing to do.

Not Quite Jonah

Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Thompson on the other hand is merely resting in a shark.

Hassock Brother

If Theo did this to Diego-san, there would either be a fight or a high speed chase.

Uneven Boy

Thompson is trying to figure out why his top leg isn't the same length as his bottom legs.

Choices

I've been going to a ton of concerts the past few weeks (Barry Manilow, Lucinda Williams, Graham Parker, Courtney Barnett...) I'm of the advanced age where staying out late during the week and cumulatively not getting the amount of sleep I should be getting has meant I don't have a lot of extra energy for other things. Diego-san is showing me what I should have been doing rather than going to all the shows.  He may be right.
