New Blankie

My friend M- brought me back a colorful blanket from Mexico. Diego-san was quick to claim it as his own...

Scratcher Here or There

Diego-san thinks most of our house rules are for the birds but one he has agreed to abide by (for the most part) is that my furniture is not for sharpening his claws- the various scratching posts I've situated throughout the house will suffice. He does however, have the ability to shred a new scratching post to shreds in practically no time at all.

Litterbox Humor

One of the boyz's litterboxes has a cover on it. It happens to be the one that is the most popular with all three boyz. Often one of the boyz will have done his bidness at the front of the box and this makes it difficult for Thompson to correctly maneuver and use the covered box so once in a while his back end sticks out the opening and he ends up doing #2 outside of the box. This happened yesterday and when I discovered the accident I announced in my best loudspeaker voice, harking back to my days working at a grocery store, "cleanup on aisle 2!" I don't think Thompson was very amused by my little joke even though I tried explaining I was laughing with him, not at him.

I'll Follow The Sun

Theo wonders why the sun keeps moving all around the house rather than stay and keep him company.

Split Grooming Duties

Since I'm unwilling to groom him 24/7, Diego-san has asked me to teach either Thompson or Theo how to brush him. I pointed out to him that Thompson already provides traditional cat licking grooming services for his two brothers, but Diego apparently sees that as something entirely different.

We Need Spring

Even the boyz are tired of watching me go out and shovel snow...

Peace Out

Theo and I were watching Paul McCartney's performance on Saturday Nite Live. When Paul started playing "Give Peace a Chance," Theo sat up and his ears came to alert. I always suspected that was the song in his heart...

Relentless Winter

Another ten inches of snow are on the way... Thompson has decided to sit this storm out and spend all day on the couch.

Chillin

This is Theo relaxin on a lazy Saturday afternoon. He may need some practice on the skills of taking it easy.

One Hand Clapping

Thompson likes to stop every now and then to give paws for thought.

Bright Eyes

Theo's loving personality may be his greatest trait but his ever expectant eyes aren't too far behind...

Deep Thoughts

When Diego-san gets this look on his face I know I better supervise his activities because mischief is just around the corner.

Cacophony

The boyz still haven't gotten used to my attempt to learn how to play guitar...

Traffic Report

Avoid the couch. There's a two kitty pile-up that has slowed things in the house to a crawl.

My Morning Chore

I decided that before I scampered off to another day at the office, I needed to start addressing some rather large ice dams building up on our house's roof. For you non-arctic weather dwellers, ice dams form in the gutters of the roof where ice builds up and doesn't allow the melting snow to drain. This can cause some severe water damage to a home.

We have some impressive ice dams growing on our roof- but luckily no water damage thus far. One way to deal with ice dams is to shovel the snow off the roof. I have a roof rake which allows me to get quite a bit of snow standing on the ground without having to climb up on the icy roof. I decided another method would be to throw Diego-san up on the roof and have him use his massive tail to swish the snow off.

I discussed the plan with Diego but he didn't seem too keen on the idea. Theo joined our conversation and seemed to indicate a willingness to volunteer but quite frankly I don't think Theo has the tail to be all that effective. Moments later I was out in the frigid cold raking the snow off the house and onto my head.

Snow Birds

Thompson doesn't like a lot of disruption in his life, but given this harsh winter I'm not sure he'd be entirely opposed to a move to Tahiti.

SB Party

The best way to watch the Super Bowl is with your foot on your brother.

Super Sunday

Theo was a bit disappointed when I told him the Super Bowl had nothing to do with a bigger dish of food for him.

Short Changed

We've reached our 1800 post. Diego-san feels that there should have been at least six or seven more about him...

What Happens in Our House Stays in Our House

Thompson wouldn't come right out and say it but the look on his face indicates that there were things that went on in the house last week during my absence that I really wouldn't want to know about...

Unexcused Absence

My dog sitting duties are over. The boyz were just thrilled to see me return home.

Omission

The boyz are a tad upset with me... not only did I leave them all alone last week while I was off dog sitting my friend's dog Torii, but I also failed to mention this abandonment in any of last week's blog postings.

The boyz think that was a deliberate choice of not wanting to face any potential criticism for leaving them all alone... Still I enjoyed my week with the ever peppy, but quite lovable Torii. And the boyz did have a sitter stop by once a day to feed them (I even stopped by over the weekend to spend some time with them...)
