My Review of CATS ATTACK SCRATCHING POST

4 out of 5

Pros: Fun, Attractive Design, Easy To Assemble

Cons: Not very sturdy

Best Uses: Active Cats, House Cats

Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner

This sure does draw the attention of visitors to our house. One of my three cats has claimed the scratching post as his own. I guess he's the most godzilla-like of the trio. my one minor complaint is the cardboard buildings just sit loosely in the stand so they tumble out if the cats put any weight on it at all.

No Worries

Upon closer inspection, Thompson has determined I haven't brought another real kitty into the house.

The Comedian

So I rode into work yesterday on my scooter and scooted behind a van that indicated it was from a business that cleans up dog poop from people's yards. I said to myself, 'That'd be a really sh*$ty job.' That's the kind of humor the boyz get to enjoy ALL the time.

Wrasslin'

It starts out as rolling around on the floor, a few swats at each other and it usually ends with a Thompson hiss and growl and Theo's persistance for continuing the fun... It's almost as if they are married.

Theo's Knock Knock Joke

Theo: Knock Knock
Thompson: Who's there?
Theo: Freddie
Thompson: Freddie who?
Theo: Freddie or not, here I come!
Thompson: If you jump on me, I'm gonna smack you on your little head.

Stop and Smell the...

I think sometimes Theo just likes to let me know he can do things that I cannot do, like smell my own feet. I've assured him that particular skill doesn't really appeal to me...

Prohibition

Diego-san is wary of showing too much interest in the catnip filled fish. He knows if he shows interest, Theo will show up shortly and try to get his nip fix. So better no nip at all than having to deal with a nip crazed brother.

The Boyz Future Mom

I went to see the Bangles Tuesday night. It was the second show of theirs I've gotten to see. I had a fabulous time and haven't stopped singing "Manic Monday" since (I can't play it on my guitar yet).

Let me just state publically another time, I want to marry Susanna Hoffs. I realize she's already married and has kids, but we'll worry about the details later. I'm sure the boyz would love to have a mom in the house, especially if that mom is Susanna.

Politically Astute

Usually when someone knocks on our door, or the doorbell rings, Thompson will flee upstairs into hiding. Yesterday the door bell rang and Thompson stayed napping on the couch in the living room. It was our city council person door knocking to get votes in the November city election. I had a nice discussion with him but was surprised to turn and find Thompson hadn't moved. I guess he was checking to make sure I asked the right questions in order to cast an informed vote.

Guitar Hero

All this time I thought that Diego-san's forlorn look whenever I practice my guitar was due to his displeasure with the noise/music he was forced to endure. Recently I bought a second guitar so I could have one with nylon strings as well as one with steel strings. Since I only have one guitar case I have to leave the second guitar sitting out. Yesterday I was awoken by the sound of Diego-san plucking the strings. Maybe his displeasure isn't with my performances, but rather him feeling left out and wanting to contribute....

Portrait

Years ago I tried dabbling in painting for the first time since elementary school. I decided it would be nice to have a portrait of the Mr. Max to remember him by long after he had left my life. Mr. Max of course wasn't much for sitting still and modeling, and I was too dim to think of using a photograph of him to paint by. I soon learned though, that the image of Mr. Max wasn't the issue- his face was forever etched in my mind- what was the issue were my rudimentary painting skills. Hard as I tried the best I could do was make Mr. Max look cartoonish. Still, when my painting was finished I was proud of my efforts. I may not have captured Mr. Max's personality, but I did capture something of his spirit on canvass. And years since his passing, the painting is my shrine to a soul who meant so much to me in the most difficult years of my life. The painting is displayed in a prominent place in the house although one of these years I really should have it framed.

I've been very careful over the years not to compare the current household of boyz with their predecessor. Diego-san is the only one who sometimes sits underneath the picture of Max. And he seems to understand the importance of that location in the house...

Newest Toy

After reading a couple of recent posts about how the rest of us aren't playful or exciting enough for Theo, Theo's former foster mom emailed me to suggest I buy the toy above. It arrived yesterday and was a big hit with all three of the boyz. Diego-san was the one who most took to batting the ball around. Theo looked at him as if to ask why Diego was so willing to play with the ball but never wants to play with him...

Positions Please

Diego-san prefers to sleep either belly side down or belly side up. Thompson on the other paw, almost always sleeps on his side. Since I don't see Theo sleeping much, I'm not really sure what his preferred sleeping position is.

The Difference Between Thompson and I

Inside Out

Diego-san likes to try and keep an eye on everything. I think he finds this task a little easier when it comes to keeping an eye on all goings on in the house. It becomes a more daunting challenge when it is a matter of trying to keep an eye on all things going on outside the house.
