Nappus Interupttus

Thompson would really like to know what was so important that Theo called him all the way upstairs.

He's My Boy

Sometimes I get embarrassed by the poor quality photos I post on the blog compared to the near professional quality photos that get posted on some of the favorite blogs that I read.

My only excuse it that most of the photos are taken on my iPhone and the camera on the device produces average quality photos at best. The pictures I take on my digital camera are much better but since I usually have my iPhone nearby and the goal is to capture the boyz at their spontaneous best, that is the camera that gets used most.

That said, in some photos the subject is able to overcome the technological limitations just by being so darn cute. This is one of them. I love this picture of Thompson.

The Good Shepherd

Theo's work is done. He's herded the others up into the hills...

No Photoshop Used

Can someone explain to me how Theo sits with his foot like that?

Friday Face

This is Diego-san's Friday face. It's much like his Saturday through Thursday face only a little bit handsomer.

Sleeping Arrangements

Thompson has found a new favorite place to sleep at night- inside a little carpeted tunnel my dad bought for the boyz. I can understand the appeal- it's plush but more importantly it provides protection against pouncing younger brothers.

Post Number 1300

Another milestone: this is our 1300 post. And I'm sure Diego-san, as proud as he is, has probably kept a running total on which one of the boyz has been blogged about the most...

Twinkle Twinkle

I've been put in charge of making sure my organization is prepared for a possible pandemic situation. One of the things we're doing is encouraging people to wash their hands a lot. And one of the things I've learned while doing some research is that you are supposed to wash your hands for about 20 seconds or the time it takes to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." So I've been doing that at home and today Theo caught me singing and couldn't quite figure out what in the world I was up to...

Not Quite

I read once where it's possible to teach cats how to use a toilet. I looked into it a bit because I thought it would be great to be litter box free. Ultimately I kind of thought Thompson would have a hard time balancing on the seat so I didn't pursue it. This video shows Diego-san might teach himself. I have only one suggestion... first he probably should lift the seat.

Wedding/Concert

Around ten years ago Time Magazine called her "America's greatest songwriter" a title that some of us Bob Dylan fanatics didn't exactly agree with but still I have long admired Lucinda Williams' work.

Last night I saw her again for the umpteenth time but it was a special show as she was celebrating the 30th anniversary of her first LP. The show was great as she performed a couple of songs from each of her CDs. But what made the evening so special was she got married to her former bass player on stage. Not often you go to a concert and get to see a wedding. Lucinda clearly was very pleased by all that transpired. The band kicked ass and the wedding? It was alright thanks to a poetry reading from her father...

Feline Eclipse

Diego-san's personality is so big that he can even absorb all the sun.

Toesies

Like my feelings towards a lot of my friends, it's Thompson's imperfections that make me appreciate him all the more. For example, I love the color of his toes- how it's a mixture of pink and brown on each foot. I also love the little brown spot next to his nose. It's those little things that make Thompson who he is and who we love.

Practice Makes Perfect

I asked Theo when I got home from work if he had spent his day practicing being cute. He didn't need to respond because obviously the practice paid off.

Retreat

Theo often lacks confidence in his jumping ability so some of us (particularly Diego-san) have learned the best place to go when you don't want to be bothered is up high.

I've Got a Secret

Obviously Thompson has something to tell Theo that he doesn't want me to hear.

Scratching Pole Friday

The boyz decided Friday is a good day to hang around the scratching pole.

Weighing the Options

Theo looks pretty calm here but I think he knows what is at stake: he's sitting in Thompson's favorite spot in the entire house. Such a bold move is a direct challenge to the one who often is his closest ally in this house...

9/9/09

For the first time since the boyz have lived with me, I set off the smoke detector. I was frying up some fish in olive oil and things got a bit smoky in the kitchen. Unfortunately it took me a while to figure out how to stop the awful piercing shrieking sound of the alarm.

For hours afterward Thompson would not let me get anywhere near him. He kept giving me his "I'm not gonna be around that awful noise guy" look.

Dreamcatcher

Sometimes the best place to dream is on top of what is holding the thing you are dreaming about.

Happy Birthday Thompson

I didn't get Thompson much for his birthday this year other than I came back home from a long weekend.

Pros/Cons

The routine may change when I'm not home but there are even more sleeping options.

Potato Land

Off to Sandpoint Idaho for the weekend. Got some pretty big stares when I pulled out the old suitcase.

Historic Video

This video is long but I couldn't edit it down because it captures a historic moment... This is by far the longest time that Diego-san has tolerated Theo's "friendliness." Usually Diego bolts after about five seconds of Theo's attention. I think Diego knew he was being filmed and his vanity and desire to be a movie star outweighed his usual disdain of Theo's attention.

State Fair Gazes

Our great State Fair is now into its sixth day and since our house is within walking distance of the fairgrounds the boyz have plenty of foot and vehicular traffic to watch. Of course they really aren't too fond of the nightly fireworks.
