I went and saw Neko Case's show at First Ave last night. I guess Case can best be described as a crooner- her voice is almost too good to be true. When she's singing acapella there are times the power and emotion is spine tingling stuff. Her music reminds me of when I rub Theo's spine and his whole back arches up.Standing there listening to heartbreaking versions of "Wayfaring Stranger," "Buckets of Rain," "The Needle has Landed" (my favorite song from her new CD Fox Confessor Brings the Flood), and "The Tigers Have Spoken," I was simply amazed at the sound of the songs. Neko's voice could probably make a cynic believe that God actually exists.
